Bode: All in All, New York City. February, 2017
The first female designer to show at NYFW for menswear in 2017 and CFDA's Emerging Designer of the Year Award winner Emily Adams Bode uses her line Bode to blur the lines of gender norms by applying traditionally feminine techniques of quilting, mending, and appliqué to her men's garments. When asked what her line means, Bode describes that “it’s about things that have an emotive quality. . . [and] about discovering why we find intangible joy in old things.” As the choreographer for this presentation, Crockett worked to create a dreamlike and timeless atmosphere that spoke to the feeling of domestic stories and histories that Bode so effortlessly weaves into her line. Between the choreography and the wardrobe, Crockett and Bode collaborated to build a world that made audiences feel as though they were walking into a memory.
